Chief Financial Officer / Controller Position

Position Summary
Primary Systems, Inc is looking for a Controller to develop accounting policies and oversee all financial procedures of our company. As a Controller, you’ll monitor the company’s financial status, review quarterly and annual budgets and manage accounting transactions. To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of GAAP and experience with risk management. Ultimately, you’ll make sure we comply with accounting regulations, maximize profits, and mitigate risks.
This position requires strong data management skills to help fully automate and oversee a fully integrated ERP system. Advanced knowledge of Excel is necessary as well. Experience in construction accounting and labor unions is strongly preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage all financial and accounting aspects of the company
- Document, monitor, and update accounting policies
- Ensure all payment transactions are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits)
- Review quarterly and annual budgets for all departments
- Analyze costs and profits
- Set and track financial KPIs
- Build risk assessment models to evaluate investments
- Report on financial status regularly and create ad-hoc reports on an as-needed basis
- Generate monthly financials, as well as ad-hoc reports on an as-needed basis
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems
- Perform internal audits and assist with external audits
- Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations
- Manage accounting staff
- Evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned

- Train co-workers on improved procedures to keep accounting information relevant

- Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations
- Communicate courteously and professionally with co-workers, management, clients, and others
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
- Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work per established safety and company requirements
- Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience:
- Work experience as a Controller or similar role
- BSc or MSc in Accounting or Finance preferred
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation
- Hands-on experience with general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and payroll functions
- Experience with cash management and risk assessment
- Good knowledge of accounting software
- Must have a positive attitude and cooperate well
- Must be trustworthy and able to maintain confidential information
- Must be responsible and reliable
- Excellent problem-solving
- Excellent communication; both oral and written
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent organization, planning, and time management; must be able to work with tight deadlines
- Requires a strong ability to multi-task and flexibility to learn and accept other duties
- Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills
- Strong math skills and confidence when working with numbers
- Excellent computer skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based programs
